Seriously, this place has the best burgers ever! Try the Soul Burger. The mac and cheese, red beans and rice, and the whiskey beans are all worth the trip.

At first I was taken aback by the small dining area, and the lack of anyone else there. I figured I was in for it. But, then I ordered the soul steak. Unbelievably flavorful and tender, it is hands down the best steak of my life. But the side orders didn't disappoint either. The mashed potatoes w= ere real and rich. The fried green tomatoes were perfect. I award 10 points to Big E himself.

The food was outstanding. I had t= he Firecracker Étouffée & my friend had the beef roast spe= cial with sweet potatoes & collard greens. We had a side of red beans & rice (just had to taste them), and an order of hush puppies. This was som= e of the best (& unique) food I've EVER had. The sauces were outstanding. = When I asked about what was in it, the chef actually came to the table to talk with me about it. This place is unique in its personable chef, its friend= ly staff and its superb food! PS: Try the sweet potato corn bread muffin!!!<= o:p>

Big E's was delightful. Being from the South and having traveled extensively there, the cuisine at Big E's is definitely authentic ! I had the jambalaya, wh= iskey baked beans, and corn bread. The jambalaya contained generous quantities = of pork and shrimp, and was seasoned perfectly. My companion had the bucket = of rib tips special, and the sauce was thick and authentic. With the Motown tunes and intriguing decor, it was a complete experience. Seating is limi= ted, so lingering over dinner is not advised. They also do not sell alcohol. A great experience entirely !<= /p>

If there is such a thing "dy= ing and going to heaven", that is exactly how I feel every time I take a bite of Big E's food.
The food is excellent. The owners are amazing. They personally make it a point to come say hi. The service is excellent!

You just don’t find many pl= aces like this!
As a visitor to the Twin Cities I was taken to Big E's as part of the Minnesotan hospitality my hosts were so good at providing.
It was their first visit to Big E's but it won't be their last. Quality, value and a really relaxed atmosphere blended perfectly to ensure a memor= able evening.
Next time I visit MN I will certainly have Big E's on my itinerary.
Thankyou to all the staff!

Big E's food has a huge amount of flavor to it that just tickles the taste buds and leaves you craving more. The Jambalaya is a must, but everything is excellent on the menu. Deciding which delicious meal to eat is very hard decision. The Buttermilk pie is = an excellent finish to a such a tasteful experien= ce. The artwork on the walls and the music combined with the food create an amazing atmosphere to spend your afternoon or evening in.

Soul food can no longer be called unsophisticated. Even when serving base fare such as fries and cornbread = it is served with presentation and flare. I had the crawfish and firecracker shrimp étouffée and was very pleased. It wasn't as big of a portion as the rib tip and fries with three sides special of the night, but very satisfying.
